One of my friends, who commutes by bike in Toronto wrote:

'Maybe 100k bikes commute in to the city every day. This is a big market for bike security.

Rent a parking space and install a big bike lock box (some kind of rack mechanism that efficiently stores bikes).

Charge people $20 a month to lock up their bike.

Get the parking lot attendant to operate the lock box.

If it holds 50 bikes. 50 X $20 = $1,000 revenue per month vs current parking revenue

I am sure the idea exists somewhere.'
