Why this Blog?

With this Blog I have a few ambitions.

First of all I have been thinking about getting into biking for a long time. In Holland I used ride my old-grandmothers bike through the city of Amsterdam. A few months ago I moved to Toronto and bought a very very rusty old city bike downtown. I thought that would do the trick. But the bike was a bad purchase and winter starts here in October (according to my standards... :)

The bikes I rode in Holland were mostly used as a transportation mode. Here in Toronto I find it still very cold and Toronto is not very bike friendly. I live quite far from my work, so not really sure if I want a bike to commute. I do however want to get some exercise and taking it outside to discover more of this city/country. So I want to ride.

I know very little about bikes except how to ride them and with this Blog I would like to learn more about everything that goes on with road or mountain bicycles. 

Second of all I am fascinated by the Internet and believe it has endless possibilities. It has made the world a very small place and I would like to communicate with the whole world in a way. I am curious if I can experience this global medium too and would like to see where it can take me. I would like to see myself way up in the Google rankings...

A third reason would be to meet some cool people through the Internet I have never met before. Start a conversation, get a dialog going with hundreds of people. Let people meet each-other.

The promise is that with all the knowledge I hope to gain I will buy a new bike and you will all see it on the web.

Let's see what happens.....
